7 Devotions for Young Adults

By Rachel Syens

Young adulthood is both a wonderful and scary time. As young adults, we feel a sense of freedom and opportunity, but along with that comes fear of the unknown. Young adulthood exists in a season of change, transitioning from school to first jobs, moving away from home for the first time, and contemplating the future. We can find ourselves feeling anxious and overwhelmed or lonely in these big changes.

Here at Today, we want to encourage you to embrace all the transitions in this season while also remembering that God will always be there to guide you. Here are seven devotions from Today to refresh your spirit, refocus your heart, and renew your faith as you enter the world.

Transitions

In times of transition, we may feel uncertain and overwhelmed. Transitions require us to trust in God’s guidance and to surrender our plans to him.

Time For a Change

Moving from an old situation to a new normal takes tremendous emotional work when you have grown used to (and fond of) doing things the old way.

Change in Direction

How do we know if the change we are making is the right move? Or at the right time? Or in line with the will of God?

Perfect Timing

We recognize the importance of perfect timing. We still have a hard time waiting, especially when we are hurting or when we are anticipating something special.

Jesus Find the Lonely

The Lord Jesus cares about people who have no one in their lives. He cares about that challenged person who is looking for a friend.

The Process of Patience

Patience involves awaiting God’s time without doubting God’s love. This means waiting without worrying, complaining, or demanding that God should satisfy our timetable.

Anxiety-free Living

In Philippians, Paul gives blunt instructions to not to be anxious about anything. How is that possible? Amazingly, the apostle gives this God-inspired advice while he is imprisoned!
