We know the hustle and bustle of the holiday season can get in the way of the true meaning of Christmas. Sometimes we need help keeping the gift of Jesus in the forefront of our celebration. Now, I love the weeks leading up to Christmas as much as anyone else. As soon as those Thanksgiving leftovers are in the fridge (and not a minute before), I’m ready for the Christmas decorations to come out and the Christmas music to warble through the house. I enjoy parties and gatherings, and I especially look forward to Christmas shopping and having lunch with my wife. And I’ll admit it, as a middle-aged guy who’s into board games, I want a toy under the Christmas tree every bit as much as my 10-year old does. But for all the warm fellowship, family time, singing of carols, and giving and receiving of gifts, I know that leaning into God’s Word is how we connect as a family to what Christmas is really all about.
Here are seven Christmas devotions to help your family stay in tune with the real celebration, the coming of the Messiah, born as a baby in a stable, given the name Jesus, because he would save his people from their sins. Each one contains a scripture reading, reflection passage, and a prayer to refresh, refocus, and renew your family’s faith this Christmas season.
The humility of Jesus’ birth is deeply significant. We would not expect the King of all nations to be born in such meager circumstances.
We know better, but we still get caught up in the retail madness of Christmas. Having things will never satisfy, but waiting for our faithful God will!
This is the time of year when our hearts turn toward home and loved ones. We look forward to family gatherings, and we are saddened if we can’t be home for Christmas.
When Jesus appeared on earth, it initially looked like a random birth. Most people were unaware of the plans that had been made in heaven in order to bring us a Savior.

By sending Jesus Christ to the world, God ensured that he would eventually have his beloved creation back in fully restored condition.
“Silent Night” is a favorite Christmas song for many people around the world. Its gentle melody suggests a “heavenly peace” in which “all is calm.”
The Word has no vocabulary, the Almighty has no strength, the Wise One has no knowledge. The Lord of all is completely dependent on the comforting arms of mother Mary.
We pray that this Christmas season will bring you closer in your relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
