5 Short Devotions to Strengthen Your Marriage

If you’ve been married for any number of years, you can attest to the fact that healthy, happy marriages do not happen by accident. Rather, they develop over time as a husband and wife intentionally journey together through life, with God as their guide. Even Christian marriages, though, are not immune to struggles as two imperfect people live in a relationship together. Thankfully, God’s word is full of wisdom for our marriages.

Whether you’ve been married for a decade or just said “I do,” these five short devotions point to wisdom from Scripture that instructs us on how we can strengthen our marriages for God’s glory:

Why God Made Marriage

Is the purpose of marriage to make us happy? The secular world has distorted much of God’s original intentions for marriage. But God has a divine purpose for marriage and companionship.

Honoring Marriage

The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom for living a Godly life, which includes our marriages. Proverbs 5 contains wisdom for honoring our marriage vows by fleeing from temptation.

Noble Character, Reflecting Wisdom

We often reference Proverbs 31 when talking about the attributes of a Godly wife. However, the proverb speaks to the importance of wisdom for both men and women in marriage and beyond.

The Blame Game

We all sometimes play “the blame game” in our closest relationships. The Bible urges us to first look inward at ourselves before casting blame on our spouses.

Living Marriage

More than ever, many marriages seem to be in crisis. But God’s plan is for spouses to nurture their marriages through the faithful practice of mutual submission.

May God bless your marriage as you seek to love one another as he first loved you.
