If you’ve committed to the idea of doing devotions every day, you might now wonder what time of day will allow you to give your best to God. Is there a particular time of day for you that will help solidify your personal devotions as a daily habit in your life and create a routine that centers your day around God? Here are some ideas to consider about when you might do your daily devotions:
What better way to begin every day than to spend quiet time alone with the Lord? Many people find it helpful to do their daily devotions first thing when they wake up in the morning, to start their day off on a positive note.
Sit at your kitchen table and share your breakfast time with God! Receiving your daily devotional via an app or email helps ensure your devotions are easily accessible for quick moments like this.
Do lunch with God. Enjoy a time of peace and reflection in the middle of your day by reading through your daily devotion at lunch. Whether it is at your desk, in the lunch room, or at a local cafe, lunchtime is a great time to slow down and refresh your spirit in the midst of all the busyness of the day.
Hear from God when you’re on the road. Some daily devotionals, like Today, offer an audio option. This makes your devotional extremely convenient and perfect listening for your daily commute, drive to the store, or any time you find yourself in the car.
Share your devotions with those closest to you by reading them aloud at the dinner table. Shared devotions are a great way to check-in with God and your family, and they provide a great base for dinner time conversation.
End your day in a time of reflection with God. Quiet your heart before him and go to sleep, ready to wake up to a new day with a refreshed spirit!
No matter what time of day you choose, daily devotions are a helpful way to connect with the Lord and acknowledge your need for him. It is the desire of his heart to know you and spend time with his child. Whatever that looks like in your schedule, I am confident that adding a daily devotion to your everyday routine will be a blessing to you.
