Jesus Saves

The two word phrase “Jesus saves” may provide the shortest description of the gospel that we can imagine. But if we ask, “How does Jesus save us?” the Bible gives us a much more complex answer with many important points. These include: “He died in our place to pay for our sin”; “He recreates us”; “He conquers the devil”; “He reconciles us with God and others”; and more.

This month we will look at these and many other biblical descriptions of how Jesus saves. As we do so, may our lives be enriched by the faithful, deeply loving, many-faceted work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This month’s author, Kent Van Til, served as a missionary in Costa Rica. He has taught theological ethics and has authored four books. His most recent work is a spiritual biography of his grandmother titled A Name for Herself: A Dutch Immigrant’s Story. Kent likes to fish, hunt, make music, and entertain his grandchildren.

As you read the Today devotions this month, may you be refreshed, refocused, and renewed in God’s Word!
