Our Faith Journey

Our July theme for the Today devotions, written by Bret Lamsma, is “Our Faith Journey.”

Have you ever taken an extended vacation or journey, traveling from place to place and taking in the sights and views along the way? Maybe it was a trip to another country where many of the sights and sounds were new and different, and you took in lots of new experiences each day. If you have, you know that as you travel, with each day’s experience you grow and change. You are not the same at the end of each day.

The same is true in our walk through life, and especially in our Christian life, as it relates to this month’s theme, “Our Faith Journey.” We will learn what it means to be a true follower of Jesus Christ as we walk this journey. We will see how Jesus formed the faith of the people who followed him while he was here on this earth. We will see how he walked with them every step of the way, and how he taught them by his words and by his example how to follow him. His disciples grew and were changed as they spent time with Jesus. After they had spent three years with him, they were very different people.

We will also spend time with Jesus this month as we read these devotionals. We will sit at his feet as he teaches us and tell us stories. We will observe his miracles and see how the lives of the people he came into contact with were changed because they had spent time with Jesus.

We never stay the same. We either grow or shrink. It is my prayer that we will change and grow as we learn from Christ this month through our readings.
