Struggling and Growing in Faith

How do you handle difficulties in life? Do you feel angry because of your circumstances? Do you feel guilty because you worry that you must have done something wrong to deserve it? Or maybe you grow weary because you’ve been in a long season of hardships.

The Bible shows us that many of God’s faithful people endured pain and suffering. In addition, Jesus himself endured the ultimate suffering for our sake. In his suffering, he took on himself all the punishment for our sins so that we can be made right with God.

During this season of Lent (which leads up to Easter), we often focus on the sufferings of Jesus, who followed God faithfully. We can also gain insights by reflecting on the sufferings of others—and what that might teach us about following God faithfully.

March’s author, Jang Ho Park, is a pastor in Tacoma, Washington. He and his wife, Jong Boon, have two sons. As God’s Spirit works in our hearts to inspire us through these stories and examples, may all of us grow in our faith. May you be refreshed, refocused, and renewed in God’s Word!
