A Peek Into Heaven

Revelation 7:9-12

There ... was a great multitude ... from every nation, tribe, people and language ... Revelation 7:9

—

Some time ago we were sent a list of "50 Ways to Know You're a Missionary." We couldn't relate to "reading National Geographic and recognizing some of the people," but we could relate to "suddenly realizing that the thing you are looking for is in the country where you are not."

If you've ever moved your residence to another place, you know how you can miss people from where you've been, even while growing to love the people and things in your new place. In this world it seems that we always miss someone or something, wherever we are.

In Revelation, John gets a peek into heaven and sees that one day all will be brought together. No one will be missing. Nothing will be out of place.

I love the rhythms of African music, the solemnity of some European worship, and the joyful praise of the Filipino culture. It will all be there! We're told the wealth of the nations will be brought into the new Jerusalem, and we'll be able to enjoy great foods and cultures fully with all the saints--past, present, and future. Best of all, the Lamb will be there. We'll finally get to see him smile.

But today--here we are. Some who should be at the throne are still missing. Will you be willing to leave the comfort of the fold to join Jesus in seeking the lost?

Lord, we know you want all your people from all nations to gather before your throne. Help us now to join you in seeking those who are still lost. For Jesus' sake, Amen.
