What's on Your Mind?

“What’s on your mind?”

This question can be a nice conversation starter. It can also help us understand our relationship with God. The mind is very important. It is the source of our thoughts—both good and evil. It is the source of our desires, our ideas, our virtues, and our vices.

Scripture points out the importance of the mind. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’” (Matthew 22:37; see also Mark 12:30). Many other texts speak of the mind as well. This month, let’s focus on the mind, how it can be a spiritual battlefield, and how God can transform it to be more like the mind of Christ.

So, what’s on your mind?

This month’s author, Kent Van Til, served as a missionary in Costa Rica. He taught theological ethics there and later in the United States. He is the author of four books. The most recent is a spiritual biography of his grandmother titled A Name for Herself: A Dutch Immigrant's Story. Kent likes to fish, hunt, make music, and entertain his grandchildren.

As you read the Today devotions this month, may you be refreshed, refocused, and renewed in God’s Word!
